Senate Majority Leader Chuck Gray's Twitter account is drawing a lot of attention this week. It's not for what he's said/tweeted: it's for whom he's elected to follow. Gawker, a New York-based gossip site, looked through the Mesa Republican's Twitter followers and found StormfrontWPWW (for White Power WorldWide), a white-supremacist organization started by Don Black, a former KKK Grand Wizard and member of the American Nazi Party. Wikipedia has added Arizona's new immigration law to its site of data. It even includes a smiling photo of bill sponsor Sen. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa. Now we haven't fact checked all of it, but we did find some errors in the reference. For one, the new law goes into effect on July 29 according to the state Legislative Council. Andrew Thomas stepped down from the position Monday to run for state attorney general. The candidates are Bill Montgomery, a deputy county attorney; Jay Beckstead, a private attorney and former county prosecutor; and Justin Pierce, a Mesa attorney. Candidates have until 5 p.m. May 26 to file petition signatures with the elections department, said director Karen Osborne. Republicans must submit 3,516 valid signatures, Democrats must submit 2,807valid signatures and Libertarians must submit 80 valid signatures.
