Accounts vary about what state Treasurer Dean Martin said, or didn't say, when he spoke at the Lincoln Day dinner of the Cobre Valley Republicans. Steve Slaton, who, like Martin, is running for the GOP nomination for governor, said Martin boasted of instructing his treasury staff to not deposit money into the state's accounts. That maneuver allegedly saved the state millions because it wasn't there for then-Gov. Janet Napolitano to spend, Slaton recounted. Martin has reportedly been ill with the flu for two days and not available for comment. As anyone who attended school in Arizona from the 1950s to the 1970s will tell you, Arizona's economy was based upon the "Five C's": Copper, Cattle, Citrus, Cotton and Climate. The reality is, Arizona's post-war economy was based upon one thing: real estate. Arizona's economy is entirely dependent upon home construction fueled by the demand of rapid population growth, doubling in size approximately every twenty years.

So much hate, so little time. (And a desicration of a cathedral of baseball.) The teabaggers will not be drinking tea, however, but will be drinking their usual daily dose of Kool-Aid from Faux News (Judge Andrew Napolitano) and right-wing talk radio (Jim Parisi, J.D.
